(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 06, 2011 ) New York, NY-Hatteras Financial Corp. shares were 2.7 percent lower after it announced the initiation of underwriting public offering of 9,000,000 shares of its common stock pursuant to an effective registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The shares touched the intraday high of $29.05 and low of $28.70. It has 52 week range of $31.98-$11.25. At the current market price, the market capitalization of the stock stands at 1.33 billion shares with P/E of 6.26. The shares traded in volume of 4.44 million as against it's daily average of 573,454 shares. On January 3, 2011, the last sale price of the Company's common stock as reported on the New York Stock Exchange was $30.27 per share.

Hatteras will grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,350,000 shares of common stock to cover overallotments, if any. BofA Merrill Lynch and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods will serve as joint book-running managers for the offering.
