I find Darkfall still presents the biggest hurdle

Darkfall has come a long way since launch in almost all areas. The PvE is more preferable (along with sync!), PvP balance is a an excellent level (it’s not going to be perfect, but tend to always improve), server and client stability are solid (and again, always room for improvement), along with perhaps most especially, the people is on the rise and overall sentiment towards the game by both new and veteran players is positive.

I still very firmly believe a long character development path is one kind of many aspects had to capture exactly what it method for be an MMO (a beachside lounge chair, a practically infinite one during EVE), but that belief isn't going to also imply all paths are manufactured equally, and it is here.

In other words, you will discover just several skills/spells/stats ‘required’ with a new player to essentially feel on-par with a veteran. Yes, there is a TON of things someone are capable of doing to contribute without use of all of that, and that's an important strength, except for people who desire to reach a somewhat level playing field (not 100% equal, actually), the path is both long and, well, grindy.

As an illustration, there is hardly any reason Not have entry to every worthwhile buff spell amongst people, but to arrive at here, and have those buffs at 75+, requires a silly time frame and gold, and also far the best (plus some would argue only) method to reach the period is always to afk macro. Again, to be a new character, you don’t NEED these spells all at 75+ to leap into PvP together with your clan, in order to take part in all sorts of PvE, as well as to experience lots of the games sub-systems (villages, sea fortresses, sieges, etc), however , if you intend to participate a 3-4 man group that goes out to PvP against ‘veterans’, well, yes, you basically DO need them, otherwise you believe that you can simply be weaker than others who've them by the considerable margin.

This differs rather dramatically from say, having 90 strength (a very large number) as compared to an agent who has 110 (the max), because difference in both damage and HP is extremely minimal, while the time for it to close that gap is immense (and that is fine). The buff spells simply offer too great an electrical swing, same as other utility spells for example Begone, Wall of Force, Confusion, while others. Same costs individuals with 100 quickness and people under. Again, it is possible to still play without it stuff, but if you go out into small-scale PvP, and certainly a 1v1 situation, deficiency of this stuff will be very noticeable.

The perfect solution however just isn't for making acquiring all of this easier, since this just significantly overall development time nevertheless leaves the have/never have gap intact. If people complain of a 200 hour (random number here) grind, they're going to still complain concerning this should you make the grade down to 100 hours. No, the perfect solution is is to reduce the volume of ‘required’ things, and turn many into options and choices.

The dungeon is huge such as rest of DarkFall .At the start of its life, Darkfall limited what schools of magic a personality could learn, so e.g. should you selected fire, water spells could well be blocked. This limitation was removed shortly before launch, and I can’t help but look at this and see it a blunder. And it also’s not only that limiting characters to one or two schools each time would reduce the overall grind (it might do this as well), but way more so it would open magic up and force players to generate choices. Does one choose fire for your strength buff, or earth for stone skin? Currently, the correct answer is both, to 75+, asap. That’s not merely grindy, but boring. Watch any top-tier PvPers video and you'll begin to see the same dozen about buffs up constantly, and the same six or eight ‘utility’ spells found in key situations. A spell selection from basically every school of magic, meaning if you need all of it, it is advisable to grind all this out. The specific range of damage spells is, sadly, almost an afterthought by comparison.
