The statement issued by The Secretary General of the Civil Service, on behalf of the Government, on the foreign policy of the state, which touched the situation in Cote D'Ivoire, has raised doubts on the singleness of purpose and will of the Heads of State of ECOWAS. The statement never made reference to the ECOWAS position and tend to put the Gambia Government on a neutral footing. It is therefore necessary for Foroyaa to highlight the ECOWAS position and call on the Gambia Government to make its position clear on the matter.
