Earlier this week, the company reported earnings for its third fiscal quarter and nine months ended July 3, 2010. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the third quarter increased 31% to $0.67 from $0.51 in the prior-year quarter. For the nine month period, EPS increased 24% to $1.60 from $1.29 in the prior-year period. In the past one year of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 30%. Earlier this month, the company said it swung to net income of $15.3 million, or 0 cents a share in its second quarter, from a loss of $159.6 million, or 4 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The media firm's revenue rose to $700 million, from $591 million. Adjusted revenue rose 16% to $705.6 million. The company ended the quarter with 19.5 million subscribers, an increase of more than 1.1 million from the year-ago period. Wall Street analysts expected the company to break even on revenue of $690 million, according to a survey by FactSet Research. CBS Corporation (NYSE:CBS) went down 1.55% to $13.95 on over 11.35 million shares. Earlier this month, the company reported that its second-quarter net income increased to $150.1 million or $0.22 per share from $15.4 million or $0.02 per share prior year. Adjusted net earnings of $175.2 million for the second quarter of 2010 increased 180% from $62.6 million for the same quarter last year, and adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.25 increased 178% from $0.09 prior year. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) dropped 0.06% to $50.40 on over 10.10 million shares. The stock today opened at $50.33 and traded in the range of $50-$50.74.
