Shares of Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE:LXK) closed 8.47% higher to $37.76 on 8.59 million shares. The company posted a higher-than-expected quarterly profit on Tuesday on strong sales of printers and supplies, and as improved demand for services helped beef up margins. Second-quarter net income rose to $85.1 million, or $1.07 a share, from $17 million, or 22 cents a share, a year earlier.

Energizer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ENR) gained 9.90% to $60.72 on high volumes after the battery and personal care products company earlier Tuesday reported third-quarter net income surged to $104 million, or $1.47 a share, from $72.7 million, or $1.13 a share, in the same quarter last year. Sales also rose to $1.08 billion from $997.5 million a year ago.

Energizer Holdings, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of primary batteries, portable lighting and personal care products in the wet shave, skin care, feminine care and infant care categories.

Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (NYSE:AMG) advanced 6.12% to $73.35 on a volume of 2.04 million shares. The company said second-quarter profit more than doubled on higher revenue following a string of acquisitions. The Boston asset manager's net income was $25.2 million, or 53 cents per share, up from $11 million, or 26 cents per share, for the same period a year earlier. The company said it still has just over $600 million to spend on new deals for the rest of 2010.
